Novelty 2023: The need for heavy freight locomotives prompted the DB to rebuild a total of 43 class E 94 locomotives between 1954 and 1956. This included the E 94 178, which was listed as 194 178 after the change in the DB class scheme in 1968. During the main inspection on 8 January 1976, the locomotive was painted in the colours ocean blue and ivory that were valid for the DB from 1974. However, the division of the colours with a light contrasting area at the front was not convincing due to the susceptibility to protection in this area. As the only locomotive of its class with this paint scheme, it also bore the nickname "Blue Mauritius". PIKO has transferred this special locomotive to 1:87 scale, taking into account all the special features of the prototype. Thanks to the PluX22 interface, the PIKO model is prepared for the uncomplicated installation of a decoder.
